Random (off topic) Musings
I’m going to throw here my random, off topic, musings that I felt compelled to write and don’t know what to do with them. I have enough sense of humility not to call it poetry.
Hope
How am I?
Stress
Jerk in a Hybrid
Some days
it’s just much harder to smile
than others
work piles up
things break
kids scream or get sick (or both)
and then
the sun comes out and the birds start singing
it’s hard not to smile

Clenched
teeth
Pursed
lips
Scrunched
brows
Downcast
eyes
Hunched
shoulders
Do you really want me to answer?

we’re coldbound
can’t play outside
whole weekend long
both of them
whining
sreaming
screeching
crying
tension rising
hour by hour
minute by minute
second by second
end of Sunday
we’re doing homework
he’s licking the page
I can’t
don’t know how to
contain it
control it
any longer
“Are you an idiot?!!!”
he responds with my words
“Only idiots call people idiots”
I told him that a long time ago
when he was overusing the word
he remembers
I feel so guilty
What
ever
made me think
I could be a good parent
I can’t
I’m not

With my left blinkers on
I paused to let an oncoming car go first
Some bozo behind me started honking
When the cars passed
Just as I started to turn
He zoomed past me to be in front
I almost hit him
Following right behind him I noticed
He is driving a hybrid!
Well … at least he cares about the environment
(And is probably mighty proud of himself for that)
